COMPANY MEMBER BIOS

GABRIEL HERNAN CONTRERAS (Dancer) born in Argentina, trained with the Dance School of the Teather General San Martin of Buenos Aires.  In 1997, he was given a special fellowship awarded jointly by Centro Cultural Borges and Alvin Ailey American Dance Center to come to New York where he additionally trained with the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. For 6 seasons, Mr. Contreras danced with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company. 
This is his second season with The Works.

ELIZABETH DISHAROON (Dancer) from Baltimore, Maryland, graduated from The Juilliard School with Scholastic Distinction in 2001. She has since performed with Andrew Jannetti & Dancers, Robin Becker Dance Collective, Pascal Rekoert/MidGetDance, Sue Bernhard/ Danceworks, Saba Dance Theater, and J Mandle Performance, and has toured nationally and internationally with Lori Belilove & Company for the past four years.  Ms. Disharoon was a scholarship student at The Works prior to joining the company.

ROSIE LANI FIEDELMAN (Dancer) from Breckenridge, Colorado, trained at Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and University of Colorado subsequently graduating from the Fordham University/Alvin Ailey BFA program. Ms. Fiedelman has performed with Interweave Dance Theater, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Calvin Wiley Dance Theater and Roger C. Jeffrey's, "Subtle Changes," where she is Mr. Jeffrey's assistant. She has worked with Kevin "Iega" Jeff, Ronald K. Brown, Darrell Moultrie, John Paollilo and David Moore and appeared on "Live with Regis and Kelly" as a Relly dancer. She teaches dance at Reebok Sports Club New York and has choreographed for Manhattan Children's Theater. 

KATHERINE FISHER (Dancer) born in Baltimore, MD, attended Baltimore School for the Arts and Tisch School for the Arts, NYU, graduating cum laude.  She has toured internationally with MOMIX and worked with Mark Dendy, Sara Pearson/Patrik Widrig, Janis Brenner and Johannes Wieland, among others.  She co-curated the In The Company of Women Festival.  Her choreography has been seen at DRA Marathon, the Brooklyn Museum of Art and Dance Now.

GEN HASHIMOTO (Dancer), born in Chiba, Japan, started his training in dance and acting at Japan University of Arts. Since moving to New York in 1999, he has danced with Igal Perry, Javier Dzul, Mary Seidman & Dancers, Faine Dance Troupe and Nathan Trice, with whom he performed at Summerstage in Central Park in 2002. 

COURTNEY D. JONES (Dancer), born in Houston, Texas, graduated from SUNY Purchase where she received her B.F.A. with honors in dance and a Minor in Psychology.  At Purchase, she performed works by Merce Cunningham, Jose Limon, Doug Varone, Kevin Wynn, Jacquelyn Buglisi, Roger C. Jeffrey, Michael Foley, and Jane Weiner.  In 1999, she was awarded the prestigious Presidential Scholar in the Arts award in Washington, DC for choreography.  As well, Ms. Jones works in arts education in the NYC public schools and teaches dance in the White Plains, NY area.  This is her second season with The Works.

ANNE KOCHANSKI (Dancer), from Akron, Ohio, studied at The Dance Institute of the University of Akron. She has toured throughout Europe and the US with The Works and performed Ms. Muller's The Insomniac {AKA aSOlo) as part of Anne Marie DeAngelo's Variety Show at the Annenberg Center in Philadelphia. Ms. Kochanski is one of the principal teachers of the company at home and on tour. She guest teaches for The Dance Institute in Akron, Ohio and, in NYC, has taught at Steps and Peridance Center.

TRACY RAY KOFFORD (Dancer), born in San Bernardino, CA, attended UC/Santa Barbara, receiving a BFA in Dance. Upon graduating he joined Santa Barbara Dance Theatre.  In NYC, he attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts on a full scholarship, receiving an MFA in Dance.  He has danced with Jody Oberfeder & Dancers, and Mark Dendy and such choreographers as John Paollilo, Stephen Petronio, Paul Taylor, Bill T. Jones, Kevin Wynn and Christopher Pilafian. He has assisted Jennifer Muller on projects with Alvin Ailey Dance Company, the Ailey school and Gestures Dance Company. He is currently teaching and choreographing at Adelphi University. This is his fifth season with the Works.

SEIKO FUJITA-MAEKAWA (Dancer) began classical ballet training in Japan when she was three years old. While in Japan, she worked in venues such as Tokyo Disney Land and Ballet Studio DUO. In 1997, she came to New York and studied at The Ailey School. She has danced with Von Ussar Danceworks since 1997 and with Elinor Coleman Dance Ensemble, Footprints Dance Company and Fred Benjamin Dance Company, among others. This is her first season with The Works.

PASCAL REKOERT (Dancer), a native of The Nederlands, danced with Dancetheatre Arena and Blok & Steel in various productions. Performing with Bronkhorst & Jongewaard, he received the coveted Prix du Bonheur du Rue St-Denis in Paris, France in 1999. With his own company MidGetDance, he has presented work throughout Europe and the US east coast. A member of The Works since 2000, Mr. Rekoert is the administrator for The Works' HATCH Presenting Series.

YUMIKO YOSHIKAWA (Dancer), from Kyoto, Japan, studied with Tomoko Sato, Yasushi Tanaka and Lana Carroll, all Works' alumni, and began performing at age 18 in TfA in Osaka. After coming to NYC, she danced with White Wave Rising and assisted Marcelo Pereira on his 1996 Brazil tour. One of The Works' primary teachers, she has led workshops in NYC, France and Belgium and assisted on Ms. Muller’s 2003 piece for Alvin Ailey. With The Works since 1996, Ms. Yoshikawa has performed at The Joyce and New Victory Theaters, toured Italy, Poland, The Canary Islands, France and the US and was invited to perform Ms. Muller's Attic at the II Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
