JMTW's program is a professional development opportunity for aspiring professional dancers. Serving approximately 25 students every year, scholarship students gain hands-on experience working with a professional dance company.
This program offers students classes free-of-charge in the Muller Polarity Technique, taught by Jennifer Muller, Artistic Council members, company dancers, and alumni. In exchange for technique classes, scholarship students provide a administrative support for JMTW, offering participants an arts organization. The program also offers occasional workshops in teacher training, performance skills, and partnering, as well as performance opportunities.
The Scholarship program is catered to dancers who are interested in studying the Muller Polarity Technique. This is a serious study. You will be able to take company class, Monday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at The Works Studio, located at 131 West 24th Street, 4th floor (between sixth and seventh avenues). We require students to take class a minimum of four classes a week. Students are then required to work one hour in the office/studio per every two-hour class taken - totaling four hours per week. In addition, the students will be asked to attend and volunteer at the company's season performances, studio showings and special events, such as the Spring Gala or Holiday Party. Please see further details and requirements using the downloadable link below.
*Upon completion of the program, when requested, students may be eligible to receive a certificate to recognize their participation.
